Overview
Course Description
The Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System is a hormone system within the body that is essential for the regulation of blood pressure and fluid balance. This system is composed of three major compounds: renin, angiotensin II, and aldosterone which play a major role in Hypertension. Hypertension and other comorbidities are among the top 10 modifiable risk factors for mortality.
This training will be delivered by two highly skilled and very experienced lead clinicians in the field of cardiology in Ghana.
What you will learn
At the end of the training, participants should be able to
1. understand the unmet needs in hypertension in Ghana
2. evaluate the evidence for ACEI and ARBs in reducing all cardiovascular mortality in high-risk patients
3. list the classes of hypertensive drug to be preferred in combination therapy.
4. explain the role of combination therapy for uncontrolled hypertension
