Registration is now open for the practical asthma management training at the UGMC Clinical Simulation Centre. Please ensure you attend the virtual session on July 29th, 2024 at 4 PM and pass the post-test as this is mandatory for in-person participation.
Important: Only register if you are sure you can attend, to allow fair access for all. Spots are limited to 50 per session.
The practical component will focus on the teaching of, demonstration and practice of using asthma devices, ensuring that participants gain hands-on experience under the guidance of distinguished and highly experienced pharmacists in the management of Asthma.

This comprehensive training event is designed to enhance pharmacists' expertise in asthma management through a blend of virtual and hands-on learning. Participants will first engage in a theoretical session covering asthma's burden, epidemiology, and pathophysiology, alongside management guidelines and treatment options, on the CES Learning Platform. The following day, they will apply their knowledge in practical sessions at the University of Ghana Medical Centre’s Clinical Simulation Centre, focusing on the effective use of asthma devices and inhalers. By integrating these components, the training aims to equip pharmacists with the skills needed to provide optimal asthma care and patient education, thereby improving therapeutic outcomes.
Upon successful participation and completion of this training, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the burden, epidemiology, and pathophysiology of asthma.
2. Apply asthma management guidelines and treatment options effectively.
3. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of various asthma devices and inhalers.
4. Educate patients on self-management techniques for better asthma control.
5. Fulfill their roles as pharmacists in asthma management with enhanced expertise.
