The "Lipid Academy for Specialists and Residents" is a specialized training program focusing on dyslipidemia management. It offers expert discussions, practical skills development, and local insights combined with international guidelines. Participants will understand the burden of ASCVD, utilize local guidelines, master risk stratification, implement prompt statin up-titration, gain a comprehensive understanding of lipid disorders, and bridge local practices with international standards. The goal is to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and strategies needed to optimize lipid management and improve patient outcomes.
Upon completion of this training, participants will attain these objectives:
1. Highlight the burden of ASCVD in our context and the need for proper lipid management to prevent it.
2. Emphasize the local Ghanaian dyslipidemia guidelines as a useful tool for optimal patient management.
3. Focus on risk stratification as a key practice. Offer expert opinion on how to do it.
4. Focus on the importance of prompt up-titration of statins and use of add-on medication to prevent ASCVD.
5. Brief highlight/ refresher on ASCVD, dyslipidemia and Familial Hypercholesterolemia.
6. Gaps in local practice compared to international guidelines in lipid management.
7. Bridging the gap by offering home-grown algorithm.
8. Highlights of Inclisiran efficacy and safety as an add-on.
