The Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT) Training Program is a collaborative initiative led by esteemed organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Fund, and the Tuberculosis Control Programme of Ghana, operating under the auspices of the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health. This program strategically focuses on enhancing Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment for People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and Contacts of TB Patients in Ghana.
Distinguished as a ground-breaking initiative, this program remains a pivotal component of the broader Strategic Initiative (SI) on TB preventive treatment. Employing a sophisticated e-learning methodology, the training is intricately designed to deliver a comprehensive and adaptable learning experience for healthcare professionals. This approach is tailored to accommodate the diverse schedules and preferences of participants, fostering a self-paced learning environment that ensures optimal engagement and knowledge retention.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES TO BE ATTAINED
Upon completion, participants will acquire critical competencies in the following areas:
1. Comprehensive Understanding of TPT: In-depth knowledge of Tuberculosis Preventive Therapy within the context of PLHIV and Contacts of TB Patients, with proficiency in implementation strategies.
2. Proficiency in TB Screening: Equipped with skills for effective Tuberculosis screening for PLHIV and Contacts of TB Patients, ensuring early detection and timely intervention.
3. Effective Linkage to TB Care: Knowledge and ability to establish a robust system for connecting PLHIV and Contacts of TB Patients to TB care, ensuring a seamless continuum of care.
4. Expertise in TPT for PLHIV and Contacts of TB Patients: Competence in administering Tuberculosis Preventive Therapy to individuals living with HIV and Contacts of TB Patients, ensuring the safe and efficacious delivery of preventive treatment.
5. Community Health Worker Engagement: Insights and strategies for involving community health workers and caregivers in the TPT process, fostering enhanced Tuberculosis prevention within the community.

Designed to address the low TPT coverage among PLHIV and Contacts of TB Patients in Ghana, this program is an integral part of the Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT) in PLHIV Strategic Initiative (SI). Leveraging an e-learning platform with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points, the training covers TB screening, linkage to TB care, and TPT for PLHIV and Contacts of TB Patients, catering to various caregivers and community health workers.
Upon completion of this training, participants will acquire expertise in the following key areas:
1. Screening for TB: Equipping healthcare professionals with the skills to effectively screen People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and Contacts of TB Patients through thorough contact investigations.
