Professor Daniel Ansong is a Professor of Paediatrics and the Dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He previously held the position of Deputy Director in charge of Research and Development of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). He is a Fellow of both the West African College of Physicians and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS). He holds a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Witwatersrand, Republic of South Africa, and a Diploma in Learning, Teaching and Assessing (LTA) from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). He serves as a Principal Investigator in several pivotal malaria clinical trials in Ghana. He is currently the co-Principal Investigator in a Phase III Malaria Vaccine Clinical Trial and Malarial Vaccine Implementation Programme taking place in Ghana. In addition to his research interest in malaria vaccine research, he is also working with the World Health Organization (WHO) on Paediatric Sepsis, Meningitis, and Rotavirus Diarrhoea Surveillance Programme.

He has over two decades of supporting research capacity development in Ghana. He was the International Coordinator of the Diploma in Project Design and Management (DPDM)-a Long Distance Programme offered by LSTM in collaboration with KNUST and KATH for over a decade in Ghana and Zimbabwe. He collaborated with the GCPS to introduce the DPDM programme into the residency research capacity development programme. He is passionate about mentoring and developing the research capacities of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Ghana.
