His journey in the field of medicine began with a profound interest sparked during his secondary school education in Ghana. Excelling academically, he pursued his Doctor of Medicine degree at Gazi University in Ankara, Republic of Turkey, followed by a Specialist Certificate in General Paediatrics from Hacettepe University, Ankara.
With a commitment to advancing his knowledge and expertise, Prof. Abdul-Mumin pursued further education, including a Master of Science in Global Child Health from St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, USA, and an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Management and Policy from James Lind Institute in Singapore. His academic journey has been marked by excellence, culminating in his fellowship with the Ghana College of Physicians in Paediatrics and Child Health.
Prof. Abdul-Mumin's professional journey is rich with diverse experiences across academia, clinical practice, and leadership roles. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where he oversees clinical service delivery, strategic planning, and implementation of hospital policies. His role extends to academia, where he holds positions as an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the University for Development Studies, Tamale, and as a Consultant Paediatrician at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Prof. Abdul-Mumin is actively involved in research, with a focus on child health issues such as neonatology, child nutrition, and congenital anomalies.
