Michael Buchbauer is an accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in supply chain management and logistics. Currently serving as the Head of Global Product Life Cycle Management at Novartis Austria, he plays a pivotal role in advising executive management on supply chain planning activities. With a Master's degree in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management, along with extensive industry certifications, Michael brings a profound understanding of supply chain dynamics to his leadership role.

In his capacity as the Head of Global Product Life Cycle Management at Novartis, Michael leads a team of LC Managers and takes end-to-end accountability for supply chain life cycle projects. His responsibilities encompass ensuring on-time delivery of LCM projects from incubation to design, implementation, and sustainability. In addition, he defines and executes the Life-Cycle Management Strategy, representing LCM in cross-functional meetings. Michael's leadership fosters a culture of supply chain excellence, emphasizing training, development, and continuous improvement within his team.

Prior to his role at Novartis, Michael served as the Head of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management at Balmung Medical Gmbh. In this role, he led the development and maintenance of a professional supply chain department with significant responsibilities. This included managing a wide supplier base, overseeing a vast SKU portfolio, and handling substantial financial spend. His strategic approach included leading purchasing and supply chain teams, driving negotiations, and successfully implementing a new ERP software.

Before his tenure at Balmung Medical Gmbh, Michael held the position of Head of Supply Chain Europe, External Supply at Sandoz AG. Here, he played a pivotal role in Sandoz AG's supply chain management, with responsibilities spanning a vast network of third-party suppliers and a diverse portfolio of SKUs. He excelled in optimizing critical KPIs, overseeing production volume, and managing cross-functional teams. His expertise extended to rough cut capacity planning and serving as the single point of contact for all SCM-related activities at third parties.

Michael's educational background includes a Master's degree in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management from the Management Center Innsbruck. He further augmented his knowledge with certifications in Production and Inventory Management from APICS. His foundation in Business and Management was laid at The Management Centre.
