Dr. Mrs. Yaa Obirikorang is a seasoned healthcare professional, registered general nurse, and a distinguished academic with a specialization in Clinical Pharmacology, holding a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical Pharmacology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). As a Fellow of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, she boasts over fifteen (15) years of extensive experience in both clinical practice and teaching within the realms of Clinical Nursing, Clinical Pharmacology, Medical, and Paediatric Nursing.

Currently serving as a Lecturer and the Programme Coordinator for Nursing at the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Health and Allied Sciences, Garden City University College, Kenyase – Kumasi, Ghana, Dr. Obirikorang plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing professionals. Her teaching portfolio includes courses such as Pharmacology, Therapeutics, Pharmacovigilance, and Research Methods. Beyond academia, she extends her expertise by facilitating workshops and seminars for hospitals, clinics, and higher education institutions.

Dr. Obirikorang's research and publications center around critical areas such as medication adherence, prescription patterns, and the quality of life of clients with diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic diseases. Her dedication to advancing healthcare knowledge is exemplified by her attendance and presentations at several international conferences.

Her academic journey includes an MPhil in Clinical Pharmacology and a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Nursing, both from KNUST. As a Registered General Nurse with the Nurses’ and Midwifery Council (NMC) of Ghana, her educational background underscores a commitment to excellence in both nursing practice and research.

In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Obirikorang has actively contributed to the governance and development of her institution. Holding both statutory and non-statutory positions, she has been a member of various committees, including the CODeL Board, School of Graduate Studies and Research Board, and the University’s Timetable Committee, to name a few.

Beyond her institutional service, Dr. Obirikorang is dedicated to national and international communities. Her involvement in health education programs for communities and service as a Chairperson/Member on Promotion/Appointment Committees for the Church of Christ Mission Hospital reflect her commitment to healthcare beyond academic boundaries.

A recognized expert in her field, Dr. Yaa Obirikorang is a reviewer for esteemed journals such as Drug, Healthcare and Patient Safety, Integrated Blood Pressure Control, Patient Preference and Adherence, and Frontiers in Endocrinology. She is a member of the Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World and Sigma Theta Tau – International Society of Nurses.
