Dr. Roland Kofi Srigboh is a doctor of Medical Laboratory Sciences and a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Sciences. He also has an MSc. Degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
Much of the work of Dr. Srigboh has been centered on medical laboratory practice, training of laboratory and other health professional, research in the area of occupational health and environmental public health. His main focus has been on prevention and protection of humans from hazardous exposures through integration of medical laboratory practice and occupational health and safety.
He is currently the Laboratory Director in one of Ghana Health Service (GHS) facilities, Maamobi General Hospital. Prior to this position he had served as head of laboratory at the La General Hospital. He is a peer-review coordinator for the Greater Accra Region and member for the Greater Accra Region Quality Improvement team. Their work as peer-review coordinators involves working with various health workers including, medical directors of facilities, nurses, laboratory scientists, information officers and other relevant stakeholders. They work extensively to strengthen capacity of most health facilities within the Greater Accra region using a well-structured questionnaire. He is a part-time lecturer at the University for Development Studies and Baldwin University College in the areas of laboratory practices and in occupational and environmental health respectively.
In the area of policy, Dr. Srigboh participated in the development of laboratory related policies; including but not limited to the National Biosafety Guide for Ghana 2022 and the National Guidelines for the Diagnostic Testing of SARS-CoV-2, 2020. He had been undertaking research in various aspects of occupational and environmental health. Notable among them is one on the identification of Lead exposure in children under five years in selected regions such as Ashanti region, Northern region and the Greater Accra region of Ghana where he acts as the laboratory coordinator – a study in collaboration with the UNICEF, PURE HEALTH and GHS. Roland have also been involved in conducting baseline studies on occupational health in various mining sectors of the country.
