Dr. Philip El-Duah BSc, MSc, Ph.D

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Philip is a postdoctoral research scientist at the Institute of Virology, Charité – Universitätsmedizin, Berlin and also affiliated with the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research into Tropical Medicine (KCCR) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He has previously worked on antimicrobial resistance profiles of clinical isolates of E. coli as well as Treponema pallidum pertenue which causes yaws, a neglected tropical disease in Ghana.

His PhD studies delved into the role of livestock as intermediate hosts for the transmission of coronaviruses with zoonotic potential. Dr. Philip El-Duah also works at the Pan-African Network For Rapid Research, Response, Relief and Preparedness for Infectious Disease Epidemics (PANDORA-ID-NET) where his work involves coordinating collaborative research activities between the Institute of Virology, Charité and KCCR looking into the influence of virus-specific diagnostics on the outcome of encephalitis in a resource-limited clinical setting.
