Dr. Opei Kwafo Adarkwa BSc, MB ChB, MGCPS, MPH,FGCS

Dr. Opei Kwafo Adarkwa is a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Manhyia District Hospital, where he also serves as Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Co-Chair of the Centre for Research, Innovation and Development. In addition, he is a Part-Time Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. His work spans clinical practice, medical education, research, and maternal-fetal medicine, with a focus on improving maternal and reproductive health outcomes.

Dr. Adarkwa completed his medical training at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he earned a BSc in Human Biology followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He subsequently underwent postgraduate specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons and further specialized in Maternal-Fetal Medicine through the Ghana College of Surgeons. He also holds a Diploma in Research and Career Development from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and a Master of Public Health with a specialization in Population, Family and Reproductive Health.

His academic and professional qualifications include BSc (Human Biology), MB ChB, MGCPS (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), MPH (Population, Family & Reproductive Health), Dip. Research & Career Development, and FGCS (Maternal-Fetal Medicine). He is a member of the Ghana Medical Association, Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Ghana, International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Fetal Medicine Foundation.

Dr. Adarkwa has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications and research initiatives in maternal health, reproductive medicine, fetal medicine, and public health. His research interests include maternal-fetal medicine, antenatal care, infertility, obstetric innovation, and reproductive health, and he has participated in clinical trials and collaborative research projects that have informed clinical practice and policy.
