Dr. Commeh is a public health specialist with expertise in clinical care and community practice. She has profound interest in ‘Healthcare beyond the consulting room’ and thus compliments her practice of medicine with developing self care strategies, improving quality and utilisation of health care services and facilitates clinical skill training workshops for medical personnel.
Currently Dr. Commeh is the Acting Program Manager at the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Control Program of the Ghana Health Service. With this unit she is responsible for programmatic activities for the prevention and control of Hypertension, Diabetes and Cancers. These activities include development of policies establishment of screening programmes, training of health providers on the early detection and awareness creation of the general population on prevention and control of NCDs and their associated risk factors. Most of her work is focused on the Primary Health Care level in Ghana.
Currently, Dr. Commeh leads the WHO-PEN capacity building activities, the NCD Risk Factor survey (STEPS) coordination and is the PEN Plus focal person in Ghana.
