Dr. Kwabena Onwona-Agyeman, is a highly dedicated Neonatologist with extensive experience in the fields of neonatal care and paediatrics. Currently, he is based at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, where he has made substantial contributions to the well-being of infants and children in Ghana.

His educational background is marked by a Fellowship in Neonatology from Tygerberg Children's Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa, which he completed in 2018. He also pursued a Post-Graduate Course in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Stellenbosch University, Cape Town, South Africa, in 2014. Dr. Onwona-Agyeman holds the MWACP qualification from the West Africa College of Physicians in Pediatrics (2006). He earned the DTCH (Diploma in Tropical Child Health) from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Liverpool, UK, in 2004. His medical journey began with an MD from Lviv State Medical University, Lviv, Ukraine, in 1988.

With a wealth of experience, Dr. Onwona-Agyeman has held various significant positions in healthcare. Notably, he has served as an Attending Pediatrician at Lister Hospital in Accra, Ghana, from June 2010 to the present. In January 2019, he assumed the role of Neonatologist at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital. Furthermore, he completed a Neonatology Fellowship at Tygerberg from November 2016 to November 2018. His career in pediatrics also includes positions at Tema General Hospital from 2010 to 2016 and Koforidua Regional Hospital from 2006 to 2009.

In addition to his extensive professional experience, Dr. Onwona-Agyeman has actively pursued further training and education. He has engaged in recent courses and training, including those related to neonatal health, such as a practical course on Retinopathy of Prematurity and Neonatal Update in 2020, as well as Bilirubin Encephalopathy in 2021. His commitment to continuous learning is evident through his participation in a Neonatal Functional Ultrasound course at Tygerberg Children's Hospital in 2017.

Dr. Onwona-Agyeman is also an accomplished researcher and author, having contributed to several peer-reviewed publications in local and international journals. His publications cover a wide range of topics related to neonatal and pediatric care, emphasizing his dedication to advancing the field. His work includes studies on neonatal resuscitation, cystic fibrosis, and neonatal morbidity and mortality, among others.

In addition to his written contributions, Dr. Onwona-Agyeman has presented his research through posters and oral presentations, further sharing his knowledge and insights with the medical community. His presentations have covered vital topics like neonatal COVID-19 disease and neonatal sepsis in a tertiary care hospital in Ghana.
