
Dr. Kow Entsua-Mensah is a leading Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the National Cardiothoracic Centre (NCTC) in Ghana. He also serves as a part-time lecturer in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Cape Coast. His clinical practice spans a wide range of specialties, including cardiac, congenital, thoracic, vascular, and pulmonary valve disease, as well as complex congenital heart conditions such as septal defects, ASD, VSD, TOF, and DORV. He has a particular interest in pediatric and congenital heart surgery, neonatal cardiac surgery, and complex congenital heart procedures.
Dr. Entsua-Mensah has established himself as a well-published author, with over 40 peer-reviewed publications in international journals. His academic background includes a BSc in Medical Sciences and an MBChB from the University of Ghana Medical School. He further advanced his career by completing his Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery (FWACS) with the West African College of Surgeons. His training continued at the Walter Sisulu Paediatric Cardiac Centre for Africa in South Africa, where he focused on pediatric cardiac surgery. In recognition of his expertise, he was awarded a fellowship by election by the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Entsua-Mensah is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, the West African College of Surgeons, the African Society for Paediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, and the World Society for Paediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery. His roles at the National Cardiothoracic Centre, along with his academic contributions at various medical schools, highlight his commitment to both advancing the field of cardiothoracic surgery and training the next generation of medical professionals. Currently, he also holds the position of Director at the National Cardiothoracic Centre in Accra.
