Dr. James Edward Mensah, a distinguished medical professional, currently holds the positions of Head of the Surgery Department and Head of the Urology Unit at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Concurrently, he serves as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Ghana. Dr. Mensah's academic journey has culminated in his status as a Fellow of the Ghana College of Surgeons (FGCS) and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), with his foundational education being a degree in MBChB from the University of Ghana Medical School.
In addition to his roles in academia and clinical leadership, Dr. Mensah actively participates in various committee memberships, both at the University of Ghana and on a national and international scale. His involvement includes serving as Chairman of the Prostate Cancer working group, contributing to the preparation of the National Strategy for Cancer Control in Ghana. With over 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals, several book chapters, and numerous abstracts, Dr. James Edward Mensah has significantly contributed to the body of knowledge in urology. As Head of the Urology Unit, he plays a pivotal role in the Urology Fellowship Training Program, ensuring the development of urologic surgeons capable of performing complex surgeries in resource-limited settings.
