Dr. Ida Dzifa Dey is a distinguished Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where she also heads the Rheumatology Unit. She is a Lecturer at the University of Ghana, School of Medicine and Dentistry, and practices at the Advance Specialist Medical Centre and AKAI House Clinic. Dr. Dey's remarkable contributions to the field of rheumatology in Ghana are highlighted by her establishment of the country's first rheumatology clinic in 2009 at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Her dedication to improving rheumatology care led her to found The Rheumatology Initiative (tRi) in 2012, an NGO aimed at putting rheumatology on Ghana's health agenda and enhancing patient outcomes.

Dr. Dey's professional credentials are impressive. She holds an MSc in Rheumatology from Kings College London, a Fellowship from the West African and Ghana Colleges of Physicians, and a Specialty Certificate in Rheumatology from the Royal College of Physicians. Her advanced training includes a Clinical and Research Fellowship at University College London Hospitals and a Fogarty/New York University Cardiovascular research fellowship. She also completed a certificate in the EULAR online course in Rheumatology, underscoring her commitment to continuous professional development.

Dr. Dey serves as the Training and Research Lead at the Department of Medicine at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and is the Training Coordinator for the West African and Ghana Colleges of Physicians. Dr. Dey's special interest lies in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, and she has several peer-reviewed publications to her name.
