Dr. Henry Kwesi Bulley is an Emergency Medicine Specialist and clinical coordinator with high responsibilities in the Accident and Emergency Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) - the National Hospital. He is a major attending officer in the department where he leads ward rounds, teaching and training of staff, engage in clinical responsibilities and administrative roles.
Dr. Bulley was a House Officer at the KBTH where he later became a Medical Officer and Senior/Chief Medical Officer at the Accident and Orthopaedic Unit from 2003 to 2014. He then joined the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kumasi for his residency program. Following that, he returned to the KBTH as a Specialist at the Accident and Emergency Department, and later becoming the Clinical Coordinator of the Department in 2019 – a position he still occupies till date.
Henry has a Certificate in Leadership and Management in Health from the University of Washington, USA. He has also completed the Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) course of the American Heart Association (AHA). He assumed the position of Adjunct Faculty Member of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives in January, 2021 and then became a Basic Life Support and ACLS Instructor with the American Safety and Health Institute in July, 2021 with his English and Spanish fluency. In 2023, Dr. Bulley became a Facilitator for the WHO/ICRC Basic Emergency Care.
As a tutor, he has supervised several students on diverse research works with quite a number of publications. The life support trainings he has organized remain innumerable. Two publications dear to his hearts are “Feasibility of Leveraging Consumer Wearable Devices with Data Platform Integration for Patient Vitals Monitoring in Low Resource Settings.” Published in the International Journal of Telemedicine and Applications (2024) and "Utilizing Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for Diagnosis in Emergency Setting. A case Report of Pulmonary Embolism." Published in the Postgraduate Medical Journal of Ghana (2024).
Currently, he is undergoing an emergency medicine fellowship program in KBTH on the research topic: "Clinicoepidemiologic Characteristics of Patients with Traumatic Chest Injuries Presenting at the KBTH".
