
Dr. Ayetey obtained his basic medical degree from the University of Cambridge and trained in Internal Medicine in various London and Oxford Teaching Hospitals before returning to Cambridge as a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellow and Specialty Registrar in Cardiology to undertake clinical training in cardiology alongside research leading to a PhD in Cardiovascular and molecular Medicine. Dr Ayetey subsequently completed a sub-specialty Fellowship in Advanced Cardiac Imaging at the Royal Brompton Hospital in the UK focusing on Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI.
Dr Ayetey’s research interests include cardiovascular risk and inherited cardiomyopathy in African populations. He has over 25 peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals and has attracted over $300,000 in research funding from Wellcome Trust and other major research funding bodies. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences and a Consultant Cardiologist and Director at Akai House Clinic where he is driving the establishment of an Advanced Diagnostics and Heart Centre. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London), the Ghanaian Society of Cardiology; as well as a member of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging.
