Dr. Francis Addai B.Sc., MB.ChB, PG Dip., HAM, MGCPS, MWCP

Dr. Francis Addai is an accomplished Medical Consultant, Family Physician, and Diabetologist with a wealth of experience in clinical practice, healthcare leadership, and public health interventions. Over the course of his career, he has worked extensively within both the public and private health sectors in Ghana and internationally, developing a reputation for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. His approach to medical practice emphasizes preventive and curative healthcare, with a particular focus on non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders.

In his professional journey, Dr. Addai has played pivotal roles in strengthening healthcare delivery systems and building capacity among healthcare professionals. He has trained numerous medical officers, general practitioners, pharmacists, and physician assistants in diabetes management and insulin therapy under various initiatives, including the Body Doctor Initiative and the Based at the Pyramid Project. Beyond his clinical duties, he has also worked as a consultant, trainer, researcher, and treatment guideline developer for organizations such as the Ghana Health Service, WHO-PEN programs, and several pharmaceutical and non-governmental organizations. These roles have allowed him to contribute to the development of sustainable strategies for the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases.

Dr. Addai’s commitment to medical excellence is complemented by his leadership in establishing specialized clinics for diabetes and cardiovascular care in several hospitals across Ghana, ensuring that patients in both urban and rural areas have access to critical health services. Currently, Dr. Addai serves as the Consultant Family Physician, Diabetologist, and Head of Medical Services at FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital in Pantang. In this role, he oversees clinical operations, leads strategic initiatives to improve care delivery, and continues to advocate for advancing medical education and research. His extensive qualifications include fellowships and certifications in Family Medicine, Health Administration, and Diabetes and Cardiovascular Medicine, reflecting his dedication to continuous professional development and excellence in patient care.
