Dr. Anthony Kwame Enimil is a Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics and Child Health at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he has made significant contributions to the field of paediatrics through his clinical practice, research, and teaching. He earned his BSc in Human Biology and MB ChB in Medicine from the University of Science and Technology, School of Medical Sciences in Kumasi, Ghana. His advanced training includes a Fellowship in Paediatrics from the West Africa Post Graduate Medical College and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. Additionally, he holds a Diploma in Medical Research from the Liverpool School for Tropical Medicine and a Fellowship in Epidemiology Biostatistics from Medvarsity/UNSW, Australia.
Dr. Enimil's professional journey is marked by his leadership roles at Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi, where he serves as the Lead Clinician for both the Childhood and Adolescents Tuberculosis clinic and the Childhood and Adolescents HIV clinic. His commitment to paediatric health is further demonstrated by his tenure as a Lecturer and later as a Senior Lecturer in Child Health at KNUST. His expertise in infectious diseases is bolstered by certifications in Infection Prevention Control, Antimicrobial Management, and Infectious Diseases from esteemed institutions including the University of Cape Town and the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa.
In addition to his academic and clinical roles, Dr. Enimil is an active participant in numerous national and international health committees and working groups. He is a member of the National Paediatric TB Working Group and the National ChildTB Focal Person for Ghana. His contributions extend to the World Health Organization's Childhood Tuberculosis subgroup and the AFRO ChildTB Task Force, where he has served as both a member and chairman. Dr. Enimil also holds memberships in the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) and various editorial boards, including the Frontiers in Tropical Diseases and the Christian Journal for Global Health.
Dr. Enimil's research interests are diverse and impactful, focusing on paediatric HIV and tuberculosis. He is the Co-Principal Investigator for several important studies, including the Pediatric HIV Disclosure Intervention and Benefits Study (PhD-BS)—Sankofa 2, and research on the pharmacokinetics of anti-tuberculosis and antiretroviral drugs in children. His work also includes innovative approaches to adherence support for young people living with HIV through text-based games.
Throughout his career, Dr. Enimil has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications, solidifying his reputation as a leading expert in paediatric infectious diseases. His dedication to improving child health outcomes, combined with his extensive clinical and research experience, continues to influence the field of paediatrics both in Ghana and internationally.
