Dr. Ama Bema Osei-Wusu is a dedicated Paediatrician with a wealth of professional experience. Her journey in the field of medicine began with her secondary education at Achimota Secondary School, and she went on to earn an MBCh.B from the prestigious University of Ghana Medical School. Following her academic achievements, Dr. Osei-Wusu embarked on a two-year housemanship training at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, starting in May 2007. Her commitment to excellence led her to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) in July 2009, where she served as a Medical Officer.
Dr. Osei-Wusu's passion for child care inspired her to pursue a Paediatric Residency program at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra, in September 2010. Her dedication culminated in her recognition as a member of the Ghana College of Physicians (MGCP), Faculty of Paediatrics/Child Health, and the West African College of Physicians (MWACP), Faculty of Paediatrics in April 2014. She also completed a postgraduate program in Paediatric Nutrition offered by the Boston University School of Medicine.
In November 2014, Dr. Osei-Wusu was appointed as the Specialist Paediatrician at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, Mampong Akwapim. In this role, she took on the dual responsibilities of providing high-quality paediatric care and serving as the head of the unit. Beyond her clinical duties, she actively contributed to the hospital's management committee and the Drug and Therapeutic Committee. She was a facilitator in the training of midwives and community health nurses in neonatal resuscitation within the Mampong Akwapim district. Dr. Osei-Wusu's commitment extended to mentoring Family Medicine residents and House Officers attached to her unit.
Presently, Dr. Osei-Wusu is a Paediatrician at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) where she also runs the Asthma and Allergy Clinic. She is a member of the antimicrobial stewardship team at UGMC. She is also a member of the Paediatric Society of Ghana.
Beyond her professional endeavours, Dr. Ama Bema Osei-Wusu values her time spent with family and enjoys the enriching experiences of sightseeing when not in the hospital. Her holistic approach to life reflects her dedication to both her career and her personal well-being.
