Dr. Alex Bangirana MBChB, MMed, FRCS

Dr. Alex Bangirana is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Uganda. He specializes in orthopaedics and has extensive experience in the management of musculoskeletal conditions and orthopaedic trauma.

Dr. Bangirana began his medical career as an intern doctor at Mulago Hospital before serving as a medical officer in the Accident and Emergency Unit. He subsequently completed residency training in orthopaedic surgery at Makerere University and went on to work as a Medical Officer Special Grade (Orthopaedic Surgeon) before being appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.

In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Bangirana has held significant leadership and administrative positions. He currently serves as Head of the Accident and Emergency Unit at Mulago National Referral Hospital and as the COSECSA PTC country representative. He previously served as Clinical Head of the Orthopaedic Department at Mulago National Referral Hospital.

Dr. Bangirana has been actively involved in professional associations, having held several positions within the Uganda Orthopaedic Association, including Assistant Secretary, Secretary, President Elect, and President. His career reflects a strong commitment to orthopaedic surgery, emergency care, and professional leadership in Uganda.
