Dr Ellen Sam is a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), and the Chief Pharmacist of the Ghana Police Hospital. She is also in charge of all pharmaceutical-related issues of the Ghana Police Service. She is also the Principal Clinical Pharmacist at the Police Hospital. She is an adjunct lecturer with over twenty years of clinical experience in providing pharmaceutical care for patients, and clinical skills for students. DCOP/Dr Sam is also a Senior Police Officer in the Ghana Police Service.

She has a proven track record of drug therapy management, patient education and counselling, clinical tuition, drug use evaluation and formulation of clinical guidelines. Her areas of specialty include: Infectious disease management, medication safety/pharmacovigilance, patient monitoring, medication use evaluation, quality assurance management amongst others.

DCOP/Dr Sam is a Member of the Antimicrobial Resistance Working Group. She is also a member of the Technical Advisory Committee on Safety of Medicines for the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) – Ghana. She is a member of the Education Committee of the Police Hospital – Ghana. And also a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the same institution.

She has been, and continues to be a resource person/speaker on numerous workshops and seminars both in Ghana and internationally. And she has featured in numerous national radio and television health programmes.

DCOP/Dr Sam is a Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), a Founding Fellow of the Ghana College of Pharmacists (GCoP), a member of the Police Hospital Board, and the Board Chair of the African Media and Malaria Research Network (AMMREN).

She has published and has also collaborated in the publication of various resources.
