Pharm. Margaret Obono is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), has served in many PSN committees and has been National Treasurer of PSN (2011–2014). She has served in a number of leadership positions which include Secretary of the Faculty of Hospital Pharmacy, West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP); Secretary, Committee of Heads of Pharmacy in Federal Health Institutions of Nigeria. She is a member of FIP and has attended over 10 FIP conferences. Chairman Association of Lady Pharmacists [ALPS], Lagos state (2009-2011). As ALPS chairman, ALPS adopted and started the training of the girl child from primary school up to secondary school.
Margaret has 32 years of experience as a hospital pharmacist and has been director/HOD Pharmacy since 2005. She initiated automated dispensing and inventory management, counseling and implementation of pharmaceutical care in Orthopaedic Hospital, Lagos. With her team of competent pharmacists, the Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) scheme was properly managed and able to generate enough funds to put up a N150m DRF pharmacy building complex, commissioned in 2014.
She has made several scientific presentations locally and internationally (poster presentations at FIP Brazil and Basel,2008). She has several publications and has trained an average of 28 intern pharmacists annually for the last 15 years. She serves as resource person in the training of Pharmacists, Nurses and other healthcare professionals. Has worn several awards among them, the May & Baker award of professional excellence for Pharmacists (2014), the maiden Pfizer award in Hospital pharmacy practice (2015), best HOD in place of work, NOHIL (2015), Assoc of Hospital and Admin Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN) distinguished service award (2012) and the biogenerics award of integrity for hospital pharmacists (2018).
