Ekow Kofa Wiah is a seasoned professional with nearly two decades of experience in software development, data analysis, and research. His extensive career spans across various sectors, including both the private and public domains, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and international organizations. With a keen focus on Information Technology (I.T.), Ekow has demonstrated his expertise in developing I.T. solutions, particularly in the design and implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems, I.T. consultancy, and health and systems research.

Among his notable achievements, Ekow served as a vital member of the M&E team responsible for designing a database-driven website for the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) implementation in Ghana. He also developed and implemented an M&E tool for monitoring Early Warning Indicators for HIV Drug Resistance across all HIV Treatment Centers in Ghana. Furthermore, Ekow played a pivotal role in creating an M&E tool designed to collect data on HIV clients attending health facilities, generating crucial programmatic indicators essential for the Ghana Health Service and its partners.

Ekow holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Liberia, Monrovia, Liberia.

In his role at NACP, Ekow developed a robust database management system to effectively manage People Living with HIV (PLHIV) clients. He conducted comprehensive training sessions for health facilities nationwide on the usage of this system. Additionally, Ekow designed a logistics monitoring system, focusing on the management of HIV medicines used across the country.

Ekow's contributions extended to the creation of an M&E tool, facilitating the monitoring and reporting of HIV test kit usage in laboratories supplied by NACP. He also developed an Early Warning Indicator (EWI) tool that tracked and reported critical HIV-related indicators, aligning with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.

He actively participated in data management, analysis, and report writing for significant initiatives, including the annual HIV Sentinel Survey and the HIV Drug Resistance Survey. Ekow is also a valued member of the HIV National Estimates and Projections Team.

During his tenure at Electronic Datacom Systems, Ekow spearheaded the creation of several software solutions catering to the Ghanaian market. These solutions encompassed a diverse range, from health insurance databases and tender evaluation systems to point-of-sale databases and inventory and accounting solutions. He also developed a Drug Information database for the National Drug Information Resource Centre of the Ghana Health Service.

As a Technical Advisor at Jhpiego, Ekow managed a variety of responsibilities, including procurement, LAN administration, and LAN maintenance. He successfully deployed corporate antivirus and mail servers on the Local Area Network (LAN). His contributions extended to the implementation of Technology Assisted Learning Centers projects in Ghana, notably the establishment of a computer laboratory connected to the internet at Effia Nkwanta Nurses Training College.

Ekow's expertise was in demand for multiple short-term contracts. He contributed to writing reference reports, proposals for Hospital Information Systems, and various consultancy roles in computer-related projects for organizations such as the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) and the Ghana Denmark Health Sector Support Programme (HSSP).

Throughout his career, Ekow actively engaged in several workshops and training programs covering topics related to health systems research, data management and analysis, and HIV/AIDS estimates and projections.

Ekow Kofa Wiah's technical proficiency spans a wide spectrum, including database systems (MS SQL Server, MySQL, DHIS2), data analysis tools (SPSS, Stata, MS Excel, EPI INFO), GIS technologies (ARCGIS, QGIS, EPIMAP), web technologies (ASP.NET, VB.NET, Visual Basic, Python), and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Ekow has made substantial contributions to the field, as evidenced by his participation in research studies and publications covering various health-related topics.
