Joana Boakye is a Principal Nursing Officer with 16 years’ experience as a Midwife. She works with the Ghana Health Service; and currently the Unit Head of the Labour Ward of Tema General Hospital.
She is dedicated, hardworking; with a career vision of becoming an icon that promotes maternal and child health through sharing acquired knowledge, skill and rendering supportive supervision. Her career vision has motivated her to utilize opportunities that come her way to facilitate workshops for Midwives.
She was a facilitator for Focus Health Region in the training of midwives in Greater Accra Region in 2011.
She was among the ten master mentors for JHPIEGO in Greater Accra for training midwives in the region in 2015.
Joana was a facilitator for Systems for Health for training midwives in Life Saving Skills (LSS).
She was among the four Obstetric Triage Champions who were trained by Kybele Incorporated; to commence the implementation of obstetric triage at the Tema General Hospital. Currently, she is a member of the National Obstetric Triage team.
Joana was one of the three midwives who qualified and took part in a teaching video on birthing positions, helping babies breathe and other midwifery procedures by a team from WHO in 2019.
She is an active participant in perinatal audit in her facility. She also assists students who report for clinical experience to achieve their objectives.
