Dr. William Kwesi Ghunney is a Senior Specialist Haematologist at the Ghana Institute of Clinical Genetics, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. He has extensive clinical experience in managing haematological conditions, particularly sickle cell disease, and has steadily progressed through various medical and specialist roles within the same institution. His expertise is grounded in rigorous clinical training and academic preparation in haematology and laboratory medicine.

He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences (BSc Med. Sci.) from the University of Ghana Medical School. He is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (FGCP), where he also completed his specialist training in haematology.

Dr. Ghunney has contributed to several clinical trials and research studies, both as a sub-investigator and co-investigator, with a focus on improving outcomes for patients with sickle cell disease. He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored articles on haemoglobinopathies and related interventions. He is a member of multiple professional bodies, including the Ghana Medical Association, the Ghana Society of Haematologists, and the American Society of Haematology. He has also served in leadership roles within some of these organizations and participates actively in training, scientific presentations, and collaborative projects.
