Dr. Vishnu Nene Limon Abayateye is a dedicated medical professional with a passion for pulmonary medicine and a focus on asthma, obstructive sleep apnea, and clinical research. Holding a Certificate in Leadership and Management in Health from the University of Washington, he is a member of both the West African College of Physicians (MWACP) and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (MGCPS) in Internal Medicine. His academic achievements include receiving the esteemed 2019 Ayo Iyun Prize for Best Membership Candidate in Internal Medicine. Dr. Abayateye earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Ghana, Legon, with distinction in Pediatrics, and also holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences from the same institution.
Proficient in English, Dangme, Ga, Twi, and Fante, Dr. Abayateye brings a multilingual skill set to his medical practice. His professional journey includes serving as a Senior Resident in Respiratory Medicine at Korle-bu Teaching Hospital, where he continues to advance his expertise in the field. Additionally, he has served as Director of the Ghana Medical Association Fund since January 2023, contributing to the organization's mission and initiatives.
Dr. Abayateye's clinical experience spans various healthcare settings, including his role as a Physician Specialist at Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital in Kpando, where he not only provided specialized care but also contributed as a speaker and faculty member for educational programs on asthma and diabetes mellitus. His commitment to public health is evident through his involvement in municipal public health emergency rapid response teams and TB/HIV case management teams.
Prior roles include serving as an Internal Medicine Resident at Korle-bu Teaching Hospital and as a Medical Officer In-charge at Anfoega Catholic Hospital in the Volta Region. During his tenure at Anfoega Catholic Hospital, Dr. Abayateye implemented significant improvements, including the establishment of a separate pediatric ward and baby unit, enhancing management practices, and achieving zero maternal mortality for the year 2015. His contributions extend beyond clinical practice, as evidenced by his involvement in publications such as the Ghana Thoracic Society National Asthma Guidelines in 2023.
