Dr. Michael Yao Ntumy is a highly qualified and experienced medical professional with expertise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His impressive educational background includes Advanced Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Sheba Medical Center, Tel Aviv, Israel, and he is a distinguished Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) from Korlebu Teaching Hospital, Accra, Ghana.
As a dedicated member of various esteemed medical associations, Dr. Ntumy is a Fellow of both the West African College of Surgeons and the Ghana College of Surgeons. He is also fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana and holds memberships in the Ghana Medical Association, Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians of Ghana, and the Fertility Society of Ghana (FERSOG).
Dr. Ntumy currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Ghana Medical School, College of Health Sciences. His responsibilities include teaching medical students, resident doctors, and fellows. Additionally, he actively conducts research in relevant clinical areas, runs obstetric and gynaecologic clinics, and performs elective and emergency surgeries. Family planning counseling, supervision of resident doctors and fellows, and research work supervision are also integral parts of his professional role.
Apart from his academic and clinical contributions, Dr. Ntumy is passionately involved in community and volunteer service. He volunteers as a clinical service provider for Marie Stopes International, a reputed international NGO focusing on reproductive health. As President of the Catholic Health Professional’s Guild, he leads initiatives and health education programs for church groups, student bodies, and local radio stations.
Dr. Ntumy's research achievements are noteworthy, with numerous international and local publications in peer-reviewed journals, and he actively engages in professional presentations both nationally and internationally. He has undergone relevant research training, including a Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute (CaRT) Program collaboration with New York University and the School of Public Health, University of Ghana.
His research and career interests encompass reproductive endocrinology and infertility, reproductive health with a focus on family planning and contraception, and maternal health and high-risk pregnancy. Dr. Ntumy's dedication to advancing women's health and his extensive contributions to academia and community service make him a respected figure in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
