Dr. Kwadwo Koduah Owusu BPharm, MClinPharm, MPH, MBA, PharmD

Dr. Kwadwo Koduah Owusu is a highly accomplished and experienced professional with an extensive background in pharmacy, public health, and supply chain management. He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana, and furthered his education with a Master of Public Health from the University of Hertfordshire, UK, a Master of Clinical Pharmacy from Robert Gordon University, UK, and an MBA in Strategic & Project Management from École Supérieure de Gestion, Paris, France. He obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) from KNUST.

Dr. Owusu has continuously invested in his professional development through various training programs, including Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification, logistics management courses, health systems strengthening, and management and productivity courses from reputable institutions globally.

In his current role as the Head of Clinical Care and Procurement and Supply Management at the National AIDS/STI Control Programme (NACP) in Ghana, Dr. Owusu plays a pivotal role in planning effective case management, ensuring quality assurance, coordinating and integrating AIDS control programs, and managing the procurement and supply of essential medicines. His responsibilities also extend to forecasting, supply planning, and the safe storage and distribution of Antiretroviral medicines at all levels of HIV and AIDS management in Ghana.

Aside from his contributions to public health, Dr. Owusu is actively involved in academia as a facilitator for the Centre for Applied Research & Innovation in Supply Chain at KNUST. He leverages his expertise to educate and mentor students pursuing degrees in supply chain management.

Furthermore, Dr. Owusu serves as the Focal Person for The Global Fund COVID-19 Response Mechanism Grant (GF C19RM) at the Ghana Health Service. In this capacity, he oversees forecasting, procurement, and supplies management of COVID-19 commodities, ensuring their regular and safe distribution across the country.

Beyond his current positions, Dr. Owusu has held consulting roles with international organizations and played key roles in projects related to TB Preventive Therapy, HIV/TB Community Systems Strengthening, and the development of eLMIS training materials.

Dr. Owusu is an active member of several professional organizations, including the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP), the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). He is a co-founder of the Ghana chapter of the International Association of Public Health Logisticians (IAPHL).

His dedication to the field is further reflected in his involvement in numerous technical groups and committees, contributing to the advancement of healthcare supply chain management and HIV/AIDS control strategies in Ghana.

Dr. Owusu has presented at various national and international conferences, sharing insights on topics such as Syphilis/HIV Duo Testing, Supply Chain Management Practices during HIV Guideline Transitions, and strategies for improving linkage to HIV care in urban areas of Sub-Saharan Africa.

As a prolific author, Dr. Owusu has peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, showcasing his commitment to advancing research and knowledge in the field. Notably, he has been a resource person on health during national elections in Ghana.

His professional skills encompass public health program management, forecasting and supply planning of health commodities, health and humanitarian supply chain management, pharmacy management, clinical management of HIV/AIDS, health advocacy, guidelines and policy development, project management, and grant applications and management.

Dr. Kwadwo Koduah Owusu's outstanding contributions to the field have earned him recognition, including the award for Most Hardworking Executive by the Ghana Pharmaceutical Students Association in 2002-2003 and the Best Worker at Kinapharma Limited in 2005/2006.
