Dr. Jonathan Odame BA, MPhil, PhD

Clinical Psychologist, Senior Lecturer

Dr. Jonathan Odame is a Clinical Psychologist, Senior Lecturer, and Educational Researcher with expertise in mental health practice, adult education, technology in education, and distance learning. He has extensive experience in counselling, teaching, research, academic leadership, programme coordination, and student support services.

His academic and professional qualifications include PhD (Adult Education and Human Resource Studies), MPhil (Clinical Psychology), BA (Psychology and the Study of Religions), and SSCE (Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination).

Dr. Odame is currently a Senior Lecturer in Technology in Education and Distance Learning at the Department of Distance Education, University of Ghana. His responsibilities include teaching Adult Education and Educational Technology courses, designing course materials and assessment tools for distance learners, supervising undergraduate and graduate research, conducting research, publishing scholarly work, and participating in academic activities.

He also serves as Unit Head of the Student Support Unit, Department of Distance Education, University of Ghana, where he coordinates academic and non-academic support services for distance learners and addresses student academic and welfare concerns. He is also a Hall Tutor at Commonwealth Hall, University of Ghana, and a Board Member of the Counselling and Placement Centre.

Dr. Odame has professional experience as a Clinical Psychologist, including serving as Head of the Clinical Psychology Department and Senior Clinical Psychologist at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. His clinical responsibilities included psychological assessment, diagnosis, therapy, counselling, mental health education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

His current research interests include mental health, technology in education, and distance learning. He has contributed to research and scholarly publications in areas including e-learning, learning management systems, higher education, adult education, mental health, and educational technology. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Ghana Psychological Association (GPA).
