Dr. Ijeoma A. Ekeruo is a skilled cardiac electrophysiologist based in Houston. She earned her M.D. from Emory University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston. She continued her training at UTHealth, where she specialized in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. Dr. Ekeruo's clinical expertise covers a broad range of areas, including arrhythmia management, atrial fibrillation, conduction abnormalities in structural heart disease, and adult congenital heart disease.

Throughout her career, Dr. Ekeruo has combined her clinical practice with a strong commitment to education. She served as a faculty member at UTHealth for eight years, where she provided high-quality clinical care while also contributing to the education of internal medicine residents and cardiology fellows. She held the role of Assistant Program Director of Internal Medicine and Chair of the Cardiology Education Committee, reflecting her passion for medical education. After achieving the rank of Associate Professor, she transitioned to establish her own clinical practice, the Arrhythmia Care Center, where she continues to focus on improving the long-term clinical outcomes of patients with cardiovascular disease and conduction abnormalities.

Dr. Ekeruo is deeply committed to addressing healthcare disparities and social determinants of health, particularly in minority populations. She has a strong research interest in arrhythmias and their impact on these communities, with a particular focus on atrial fibrillation and conduction abnormalities in structural heart disease. In addition to her clinical and academic work, she is dedicated to international health, having worked with the Cardiovascular Education Foundation (CVEF) to organize skills-sharing and education trips to Sub-Saharan Africa.

Dr. Ekeruo holds multiple board certifications, including in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Cardiac Electrophysiology from the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is also certified in adult comprehensive echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography. Furthermore, she is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society, reflecting her leadership and expertise in the field.
