Dr. Abdul-Jalil Inusah is a dedicated Senior Specialist Physician and Nephrologist with a strong commitment to improving patient health outcomes through proactive strategies and comprehensive medical care. His extensive educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, along with postgraduate qualifications such as a Master of Public Health from the University of Ghana, and an MPhil in Nephrology from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. He has also earned certifications in Health Administration and Management from GIMPA, and a subspecialty in Nephrology from the College of Physicians in South Africa, where he excelled, passing the exit exam with distinction.
Throughout his career, Dr. Inusah has gained valuable experience in nephrology, working under the mentorship of leading nephrologists in both Ghana and South Africa. He has trained extensively in all aspects of nephrology, including kidney transplantation, peritoneal dialysis, and haemodialysis. His skills in performing diagnostic procedures, such as kidney biopsies and PD catheter insertions, are noteworthy, having conducted close to 100 kidney biopsies during his training. Dr. Inusah is also actively involved in the research and education of medical registrars, contributing to the advancement of nephrology in Ghana and beyond.
In his current role as a Senior Specialist Physician/Nephrologist in the Renal Unit at the Directorate of Medicine and Therapeutics in Accra, Dr. Inusah plays a key role in the management of patients with kidney diseases, as well as in providing clinical guidance and leadership to his team. His commitment to improving patient care is reflected in his involvement in various research projects, including his ongoing research into the predictors of contrast-associated acute kidney injury. Dr. Inusah is also a sub-investigator in the AMPLITUDE study aimed at improving the management of APOL1-mediated kidney disease.
In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Inusah is an active educator, serving as a lecturer at Family Health University Medical School and the University of Ghana Medical School. He regularly participates in training and development programs for healthcare professionals and delivers scientific presentations on nephrology-related topics at conferences and seminars. His dedication to patient education and advocacy is evident through his volunteer activities, including his involvement in medical outreaches and public health campaigns, particularly in raising awareness about kidney diseases.
Dr. Inusah's professional affiliations include membership in the International Society of Nephrology, African Association of Nephrology, South African Nephrology Society, American Society of Nephrology, and the Ghana Kidney Association, where he holds leadership roles in various committees.
